YU Israel to Offer Undergraduate Business Program in Jerusalem
Yeshiva University in Israel is launching an undergraduate business program called YU Jerusalem in a remodeling of its previous undergraduate offerings.
The inaugural YU Jerusalem women’s program will begin in the spring 2027 term and subsequent separate men’s and women’s programs will admit students for the fall 2027 term, according to the August issue of “The View from YU.”
The program will include a three-year curriculum to complete an accredited Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Global Business & Innovation. YU Israel will also provide a full Judaic studies program. The degree will be offered on two campuses, one for women located at the Nefesh B’Nefesh Residence and one for men at the Gruss Institute in Jerusalem.
YU in Jerusalem will charge a tuition fee of $19,000 a year — a special price for the starting cohort — with an optional dormitory fee of $11,000 a year.
“With this new program, students looking to obtain a YU degree will be able to do so while living in Israel, studying business with our excellent faculty and learning in our batei midrash with the world-class leaders and educators whose teachings have come to define our Torah community,” Dean Rebecca Cypess told The Commentator. “With distinct programs for men and women, students will deepen their Torah learning through daily, in-person shiurim.”
Classes will be held completely online, with a mix of asynchronous and live classes with YU faculty. The program will accept credits for one year from yeshiva or seminary and can be completed in six semesters. Students will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Yeshiva University, with no partner university involved. Asynchronous courses are provided in partnership with YU Global, Yeshiva University’s platform for online degree programs.
According to the YU Israel website, the degree is designed to give students a “strong foundation across the core areas of business — including accounting, finance, marketing, data analysis, entrepreneurship, innovation and AI — equipping students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a wide range of business careers and opportunities in today’s evolving global and Israeli marketplaces.” Students will have access to YU’s resources, including career advising from the Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development.
“Synchronous courses and experiential learning will allow students to immerse themselves in the business landscape of Israel, preparing them, with Hashem’s help, to enter Israel’s workforce and contribute meaningfully to the country’s ongoing growth and flourishing,” Dean Rebecca Cypess told The Commentator. “The new program affords students access to programming, shabbatonim, extracurricular activities, mentorship, internship support and a community rooted in growth, connection, and purpose.”
YU Israel’s most recent undergraduate program faced challenges after its launch in the 2024-2025 academic year. The program offered a degree in Psychology in conjunction with Bar-Ilan University or in Business Administration with Tel Aviv University, with a Judaic education from YU Israel. Last October, The Commentator reported that some students believed they would receive two degrees, one from YU and either Bar-Ilan or TAU, but then learned they would only receive a BA from YU.
In May or June 2025, YU Israel students were informed that the program would stop accepting new students for one year.
YU previously offered programs in Israel that are now discontinued, including a joint YU-Tel Aviv University electrical engineering program created in 2017 and a pair of Sy Syms School of Business undergraduate and graduate programs launched in 2022.
