Meet the Candidates: Adam Zimilover

Adam Zimilover, Political Science/Biology

Desired position in Student Government:

YCSA President

Bio:

I'm from Queens, NY, attended Rambam Mesivta High School and spent a year learning at Yeshivat Har Etzion (Gush). I'm double majoring in Political Science and Biology and plan to pursue a career in medicine/public health. I currently serve as Vice President of YCSA, have led numerous clubs on campus and am passionate about having an active role in the YU community.

Why are you running for this position on student council?

As I approach my fourth year on campus and after serving as Vice President of YCSA, I have seen what works and what needs improvement here at YU. As YCSA President I will address those issues as well as build upon the amazing atmosphere and successful programming that we have. I plan to work closely with students and the administration to ensure smooth functioning of clubs and events, and I intend to bring fresh ideas and excitement to the table. An integral of my YU experience has been my involvement in the student life conversation and I am excited to continue next year.

What experience do you bring to this position?

Since coming to campus in Fall 2010, I've been involved in numerous clubs, including serving as President of the History Club and Non-Fiction Book Club. I am currently Vice President of YCSA and was Junior Class Secretary/Treasurer last year. Additionally, I am a board member of College EDge and News Editor of The Commentator. I have also assisted many different clubs and student organizations in creating and designing flyers and advertisements for their events. I was directly involved with organizing this year's Chanukah Concert and Yom Ha'atzmaut festivities, amongst other university-wide events and activities.

What, if any, other leadership commitments are you taking on next year?

I plan to stay involved with the Non-Fiction Book Club and College EDge.

How many credits do you plan on taking next semester?

12-15

At YU, I...

I live within five blocks of the YC campus, I stay in Washington Heights at least two shabbatot a month, I have not faced any disciplinary action from Yeshiva University, I do not have a criminal record nor have I been arrested

Why should students vote for you over any other candidate?

I am the only candidate with experience on YCSA and I will be able to begin the year strong, without the learning curve that would otherwise exist. I do not have any other major commitments, thus I will be able to devote all of my efforts and energy towards the Yeshiva College student body.
