Beren and Wilf Spring 2025 Student Election Results Released
The results of the spring 2025 student government elections were released on May 9.
Voters were able to cast their ballots on CampusGroups on May 8, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 30 students were elected to serve in student government positions, including 16 on the Wilf Campus and 14 on the Beren Campus.
Aiden Harow (YC ‘26) was elected president of the Wilf Campus’ Yeshiva Student Union (YSU), and Betty Khirman (SCW ‘26) will serve as president for the Beren Campus Student Council (BCSG).
Harow, a political science major from Boca Raton, Fla., succeeds outgoing YSU president Sam Weinberg (YC ‘25).
“I am honored and humbled to have been elected president of YSU,” Harow told The Commentator. “I feel a profound sense of responsibility to the student body to do what I can to make YU the best place it can be.”
Harow laid out what he wants to accomplish in his term as president.
“My goals include: continuing to foster community by doubling down on Shabbos, making sure as many students as possible are being catered to by working on mass-appeal events and listening to the student body to find out what they want through open hours and town halls.”
“I am excited to leverage my experience working with the administration and the OSL on the Out-of-Town Committee for this past year to continue to build strong relationships and cooperate with the powers that be to enhance the YU student experience,” Harow said.
Khirman, who is from Cupertino, Calif., is studying psychology and will take over for Shalhevet Cohen (SSSB ‘25) as BCSG president.
“I feel incredibly honored to have been selected as the student body president for this upcoming school year,” Khirman told The Commentator. “I’m very thankful for this amazing community, and I’m so excited for the opportunity to give back and to welcome the new incoming class into this place that, for me, truly feels like home.”
“For me personally, it’s not a title; it’s a reminder of how far I’ve come and how far we’ve come as a community,” Khirman added. “Coming into YU, barely knowing anyone, I didn’t think I was going to fit in … I think becoming president is a testament that no matter where you come from, no matter your background … you have a place in the YU community.”
As president, Khirman told The Commentator that she plans to value the voices of all students.
“Every single student should feel that they’re part of the community,” she said, “whether it’s an event that they want to see happen or they want some change to be implemented. We as student council … should make their idea happen and we should help implement that change that they want to see.”
Below is the full list of winning candidates and available vote counts, as provided by Wilf Campus Canvassing Committee Chair Josh Makovsky and Beren Campus Elections Commissioner Shira Kramer.
