YU Announces Launch of Yeshiva Success Network

The Yeshiva Success Network, a new online platform that centralizes academic and student resource services, was launched over the summer, Associate Dean Joe Bednarsh announced in an email on Aug. 17.

The Yeshiva Success Network was designed to direct students to staff members that can best support them and will allow faculty and staff to share information, improving the student experience. It is expected to become the default platform for scheduling appointments and accessing services.

The network is not intended to replace any current infrastructure like Canvas or InsideTrack.

The network currently contains a central dashboard which can be used to contact or redirect to the websites of many Yeshiva University services, as well as a “raise your hand” icon where students can submit the general details of what they need, and have their request redirected to the proper person. Other features include a course list that displays the credit value of courses with links to professors’ contact information and appointment scheduling where available.

Other aspects of the network are primarily intended for faculty and staff. “Among many other things,” Bednarsh said, “a professor can alert an academic advisor to a concern so the advisor can reach out to students to see how we can be helpful and supportive. The platform allows for any raised items to have a formal closing of the loop whereby a student or professor can know that a concern has been successfully addressed.”

“I also expect to continue to add more services and types of connections as we continue to add both anticipated and suggested functionality so that YSN is simple but comprehensive,” Bednarsh said. “We also plan to roll out the ability to create success plans for students which can be a roadmap to help students succeed academically but also help keep track of non-academic responsibilities.”

Several students seemed unaware of the purpose or existence of the new resource, but expressed optimism about the network’s potential. “The website seems very neat, official, and put together,” said Alayna Higdon (SCW ‘24). “I think more people should know about this… It seems like a good resource for YU people to have.” 

Others agreed. “I don’t know much about it, but it sounds like it has the potential to be a very beneficial resource for students,” remarked Ephraim Crystal (YC ‘24).
