Six Hundred Books On War Given to Library (Vol. 2, Issue 10)
A collection of over six hundred books on the World War was donated to the Yeshiva College library by the National Council of Jewish Women through the efforts of Rabbi Leo M. Reichel, Jewish chaplain of Welfare Island.
The collection consists, mainly, of source materials, military orders and records, accounts of war legislation, first hand observations of fighting and diaries of generals and war leaders.
Record War Reactions
A number of these books are regarded as of interest not so much because of the light they throw on the progress of the war itself but as records of war time reactions. Of such nature are Fritz Kreisler’s “Four Weeks in the Trenches,” Gilbert Murray’s book on Sir Edward Gray, and a review of German legislation in Belgium.
