On the Sidelines (Vol. 1, Issue 1)

In Retrospect

While glancing through an old Yeshiva College score-book, I came across…[illegible]... basketball schedule of four years. Herein were inscribed the records of five home games, waged against the…[illegible]... of Camp Edgemere, SOY, Jewish Theological Seminary, NYU School of…[illegible]... ical Education, and Talmudical Academy. Yeshiva College defeated two former quintets but lost out to…[illegible]....er three.

The old score-book had an untold… in its pages. I could clearly, see…[illegible]... picture of the ‘first Yeshiva College…[illegible]... striving for recognition and dreaming of “big time” games with the larger institutions of the city. And as I fancied... dawned upon me that their dreams have become realities.

During its past season, Yeshiva College engaged in a strenuous schedule…[illegible]... ng 13 games thus far. Although the team was not successful from a …[illegible]... ing point of view, it must be...ted with a very fine showing. It entered some of the outstanding Jay…[illegible]... in the east, among whom are in... CCNY, Manhattan, LIU, St... and New Jersey Normal School…[illegible]... varsities as NYU School of Law, DeWitt College, CCNY Evening School,…[illegible]... Hudson “Y” and a host of private…[illegible].. associations, were also engaged…[illegible]... the Yeshiva.

Conference Games

It would be a fine thing if the basketball team could continue its schedule from year to year, and have a standing engagement with the above teams. Your writer suggests that the Athletic Association of the college get busy and attempt to organize a league, or a conference with the various Junior Varsities in the city. In addition to the above…[illegible]... aggregations, those of Columbia, Fordham and NYU would also be added in the rank and file of the new conference. This, I believe, would be the first league of its kind and would…[illegible]... in cementing our athletic relationships with the other institutions of New York.
