Meet the Candidates: Menachem Goldstein

Menachem Goldstein

Desired position in Student Government:

YSU President

Bio:

My name is Menachem Goldstein, I'm 6'4" and weigh in at a solid 200 pounds. I come from the Chicago Il where I grew up (#BeatBrooklyn). I am just like all of you, looking to have a good time while I bide my time here at YU. My favortie thing about YU is the free food that can always be found if one looks hard enough. With that being said, please join me ( ill be the tallest guy handing out doughnuts) Thursday morning near the benches on the corner of 185th and Amsterdam for doughnuts (who doesnt like doughnuts) and of course the opportunity to chat with a candidate for YSU President

Why are you running for this position on student council?

I have seriously enjoyed my time so far here in YU and would love to see a few things added that my fellow students can enjoy and benefit from in the future, the way I did in the past. I believe there are plenty of opportunites here for each and every student as long as there is someone to lead the charge and I want to be the one to lead it.

What experience do you bring to this position?

I have represented our school before on the volleyball court where we just won our second championship in the past three years. I sit on the alumni board of Yeshivat hakotel where I am in charge of the alumni events happening in YU. I am also heavily involved with the YU Venture Capital Community. Additionally I work part time for a start-up where I head the General Service Administration division (government contracting).

How many credits do you plan on taking next semester?

15

At YU, I...

Live in a YU dorm, I eat at least half of my meals in the caf, I stay in Washington Heights at least two shabbatot a month, I have attended courses outside Yeshiva University, I do not have a criminal record nor have I been arrested.

Why should students vote for you over any other candidate?

I enjoy staying in for shabbos. The athmosphere is very calm and relaxed. There is a unity felt among those who frequently stay in and enjoy YU in a way that most of the other students dont experience.    I believe I am the best candidate because I am a hard working individual and motivated, that will give 110% to implement the additions and changes that I have planned for next year. Most people like to use this position as a resume booster, a way to have the student body work for them. I want to work for the student body.
