Dorm Gourmet: Turkey Burger Day!
Patriotism at Its Most Delicious
Happy almost Turkey Day! Preparation for Thanksgiving may be bad news for turkey rights activists and their beloved gobbling buddies, but it’s great news for the rest of us carnivorous patriots. And what could be more American than a turkey burger? It’s deliciously versatile: you can serve it for Thanksgiving and your Fourth of July BBQ. Not only is Turkey a festively patriotic nod to the pilgrims, but it’s a healthy minhag as well. Turkey meat is lean and a good source of protein. Ground turkey also includes minerals and vitamins such as vitamin B6. Way more fun than tracing your hand and glue-sticking googly eyes.
Ingredients:
1 pound of ground turkey
1 egg
1/2 cup BBQ sauce of your choice
Hamburger buns
Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
2. Form patties out of the mixture. You should get between four and six depending on their size. Make sure the patties are thin. Do not cook them too long, or the BBQ sauce will burn.
3. Cook each patty individually on a George Foreman grill. This should take between three and five minutes.
4. Place patties in buns. Add condiments of your choice to taste.
